lyrics

Giant squid and colossal squid
Well they’re…no – not the same, no, no siree!
But they both can battle whales,
They've got tentacles, not tails
And they live down deep under the sea

They've got no bones – they're invertebrates
No spinal columns, it's true they have no bones (have no bones)
And though they may be fast when they swim under the sea
On land, they can't wave like you and me
And on land they can't wiggle like you and me

And on land they can't dance like you and me

Colossal squid can weigh 1000 pounds

And they've been rarely seen by folks like you and me
But a few years ago

Some sailors saw one from their boat

And brought her back for scientists to study

They've got no bones – they're invertebrates
No spinal columns, it's true they have no bones (have no bones)
And though they may be fast when they swim under the sea
On land, they can't stomp like you and me
And on land they can't shake like you and me

And on land they can't dance like you and me

Giant squid have very large brains

So it's likely that they're also really smart

They've got the largest eyes around

And I know how strange it's gonna sound

But they've got three instead of just one beating heart!

They've got no bones – they're invertebrates
No spinal columns, it's true they have no bones (have no bones)
And though they may be fast when they swim under the sea
On land, they can't tip toe like you and me
And on land they can't twist like you and me

And on land they can't dance like you and me

That's right on land they can't dance like you and me.
Oh no, on land they can't dance like you and me!
