The problem with my cat’s a bit unique, you see.
He really can't help it when he finds he has to sneeze.
Though he can snuggle and purr and has soft fur I like to pat,
You can't say, “Gezundheit!” to a cat!

Since he's a cat, he doesn't know what's happening.
You and I know allergies can be to food or dust or spring,
And we can help ourselves with diet or with antihistamines,
But a cat can only wonder what it means.

But what if my cat's allergic to cat fur?

I can't imagine what cruel twist of fate would cause that to occur.
It seems illogical, improbable, and yet for all of that,

I fear my cat may be allergic to my cat!

Oh, what if what you're allergic to is you?

What kind of medication could you take? What's a poor cat to do?
But I bet if there was something you could do to help him out,

I know you would, 'cause kindness is what you're about.

So if you find you're friends with an allergic cat,

There are some things that you can do to help him out right off the bat.
Pay attention to the snacks you eat when you're out with his crowd,
And if you share, make sure you check that it's allowed.

Of course, not every allergy is about food.

You can't control everything in your life because you're in the mood
We can't stop a bee from stinging, or make pollen go away,

But we can look out for allergic friends each day.
